Confident Leadership

Leadership confidence isn’t knowing exactly what to do all the time.

I think it is learning to trust yourself when you don’t.

My own leadership journey has been a journey of confidence and intentional creativity.

I’ve learned to be curious.

To be present.

To slow down enough to recognize what is actually happening in the moment instead of immediately reacting to it.

My wife will tell you that when she married me the one thing she noticed was that I lacked confidence. Fast forward to today and I am a completely different person. Now I am on a journey and sometimes I revert back to my old self but here is what I noticed I need to ask myself.

What am I bringing into this moment?

How do I want to show up?

What can I learn here?

What response am I going to choose?

The more I’ve practiced this, the more I’ve learned about myself. And probably more importantly, I’ve learned to trust myself.

That is where my 4 R’s have become such an important part of how I lead:

Recognize. Reframe. Respond. Reflect.

Recognize what is happening.

Reframe what I’m telling myself about it.

Respond with intention.

Reflect so I can learn from it.

That’s leadership confidence to me.

It’s not having all the answers.

It’s knowing that when the pressure comes, I can stay present, get curious and trust myself to choose how I respond.

And that’s a big part of what I want the Blue Collar Network to be about.

Leaders, managers having real conversations about communication, confidence, pressure, trust and the everyday situations they find ourselves leading through.

Two live sessions each month. Practical tools and conversations. A place to learn, grow and get curious about your own leadership in the blue collar frame.

Who am I choosing to be in this moment?

If this sounds like a conversation you need to be part of, I’d love to have you join us.
