A Leader’s Dream: The Shift from Survival to Significance

As a leader in my own space, I used to believe my success wasn’t mine. I measured it by other people’s expectations, results, and opinions. I didn’t even think I have the leaders dream—at least, not one that was worth naming. In fact, I resisted the idea altogether. Why? Because I thought others would think I was stupid for dreaming bigger.

For a long time, I operated from a place of proving and performing. I told myself I had to hold it all together for the sake of others, and that my own vision could wait. But here’s what I’ve come to understand: your dream is your leadership.

After months of deep coaching, unlearning, and growing, I began to reconnect with the truth:
I do have a dream.
My success is mine.
And no one can take that away from me.

This realization changed how I lead—and how I serve the leaders I work with. Today, I want to share what I’ve learned about the power of a leader’s dream and how it drives not just personal transformation, but the embodiment of an empowered team.

In this weeks Blog Nic Barker of Barkerout loud Sales joins me to talk about leadership and Dreams. I hope you like the deep conversation and a little humour as well!

1. Intentionality Within the Leader’s Dream

A dream without intentionality is just a wish. It sounds nice, but it lacks the roots to grow into something meaningful.

Leaders who come into coaching with me are often surviving—reacting, firefighting, constantly feeling behind. They may have goals or deadlines, but not a dream that connects to their purpose or values. That’s where intentionality comes in.

When you name your dream, and decide to pursue it on purpose, everything changes. You stop trying to prove your worth and start building from it. Your leadership becomes proactive, not reactive. You become anchored—not tossed around by other people’s energy.

Are you leading from survival or from purpose?
Ready to explore your dream?

2. The Mindset of a Leader Who Has a Dream

Leaders with a dream think differently. They aren’t driven by fear or frustration. They operate from belief, trust, and curiosity. But here’s the truth—those aren’t just personality traits. They’re mindsets that come from doing the inner work.

When I first started this journey, I thought the team was the problem. If they just worked harder, communicated better, or respected me more—then I could finally succeed. But coaching showed me that the real shift had to happen in me.

A dream becomes the lens through which you lead. It moves you from “What’s wrong with them?” to “How do I want to show up here?” You begin to lead yourself first—and that creates a ripple effect that transforms your team culture.

What would be possible if you believed your dream was worth leading from?

3. The Result of a Leader Who Has the leaders Dream

When a leader starts living from their dream, the results speak for themselves.

Teams feel more inspired—not because of external motivation, but because of the energy their leader brings. Communication opens up. Ownership deepens. Culture evolves. Why? Because the leader is no longer hiding behind performance. They’re leading from authenticity and vision.

One client told me, “I used to think leadership was about fixing everyone else. Now I see it’s about becoming who I needed.” That’s the power of a dream. It invites you to step into your role—not just as a manager of outcomes, but as a cultivator of growth.

What kind of leader are you becoming because of your dream?

Final Thoughts

Your dream matters. It’s not too big, too bold, or too far off. It’s yours—and it’s waiting to be lived.

As leaders, we’re taught to hustle, to fix, to lead from control. But empowered leadership begins with a dream. And that dream, when nurtured with intention, mindset, and courage, becomes the foundation of everything else.

It’s time to stop surviving and start dreaming—with purpose and intentionality.
